Wielding the Iron Hammer
Print Size 27" x 21"
The Mistel (Mistle Toe) was a top-secret German aviation project. The weapon consisted of a JU-88 with the nose convirted to an explosive warhead and an attached ME109 or FW190 in which a pilot flew the two joined aircraft to it's target. The JU-88 was aligned with the target, placed on autopilot, and then released to fly into and destroy the target. The mission for which the weapon was to have it's greatest effect was to be the destruction for all power plants in and around Moscow. Code named operation "Iron Hammer", the mission had to be called off because the airfields close enough to Moscow to launch the operation were overrun by the Soviets. This edition of 1000 prints was signed by Werner Seitz, the last surviving Mistel pilot from WW-II.
